Choosing Between a Diagnostic, a Project and Monthly Support

The most useful sustainability engagement starts with a defined problem. Before choosing a package, establish the required output, the evidence already available, the deadline and the person who will approve the result.

Use a diagnostic when the problem is unclear

A diagnostic is a bounded review. It should identify the requirement, map available evidence, prioritise gaps and recommend a next step. Ask exactly which documents and questions it covers. A diagnostic should not be presented as a complete inventory, independent assurance or a guarantee of compliance.

Use a project for a defined deliverable

A project fits work with a clear boundary and end point: for example, an activity-data workbook for a specified entity and period. Agree the deliverables, inputs, exclusions, review responsibilities and acceptance criteria. If the reporting boundary changes, revisit the scope before work expands.

Use monthly support for a recurring workload

Monthly support makes sense when evidence needs regular updating or customers make repeated requests. Define the included capacity and request limits. Agree how work is prioritised and what happens if an urgent request exceeds that capacity. Measure actual work completed and the time required.

Ask who will review the work

Preparation, technical review, management approval and independent assurance have different responsibilities. Make those responsibilities explicit in the proposal. A low initial price is difficult to assess without knowing what is included and who checks the output.

VerdeSync begins with the actual requirement and available evidence, then proposes a scope that fits. Discuss your business request.
